What a game changer!
In 2020, I was bitten by a rattlesnake, and the recovery was far more difficult than I ever expected. It took roughly eight months for the initial injury to heal, and during that time, ongoing swelling and leaky capillaries made something as simple as sitting or standing at a desk incredibly difficult.
Even after the bite itself had completely healed, the problems didn’t go away. The soft-tissue damage in my foot meant that after about 30 minutes of sitting or standing, the swelling would become uncomfortable enough to make working at a conventional desk miserable.
I eventually started working wherever I could get comfortable—on couches, in oversized chairs, at home, around my office, and even out on the porch. I was constantly looking for an alternative to a traditional desk.
But that’s not a practical or sustainable way to run an IT business. I needed a real workstation that could accommodate my limitations without forcing me to choose between being comfortable and being productive. A proper workstation wasn’t a luxury anymore; it was a necessity.
The ErgoQuest Zero Gravity Workstation 0b-XL changed that completely.
It is a genuine game changer for my situation.
This is not a standing desk with a fancy chair bolted on. It is a fully integrated workstation: motorized backrest, seat, and leg rest; a motorized mast for monitor height; a padded wrap-around keyboard tray; side tables; and the extra-wide XL frame with motorized monitor tilt so multiple large screens stay in the right plane when you recline. It goes from more upright work to zero-gravity to fully flat. For someone whose foot still swells if it hangs or bears weight the wrong way, that range of positions is the difference between finishing the workday and shutting down early.
The memory foam and cotton/poly cover take the pressure off. I can keep my foot supported, change angle before swelling starts, and stay on the keyboard and screens instead of abandoning the desk for the porch couch. Work that used to feel like a physical penalty now feels like work again. For a veteran-owned MSP that lives on tickets, remote sessions, UniFi gear, and long days at the screen, that is not a luxury. It is how I stay productive.
Considering how many parts came off the truck, assembly was not that difficult. You definitely need two people for the large pieces. I am able-bodied most of the time, so we got it done. If you are not able-bodied, have ErgoQuest or a helper set it up. Once it is together, the motors and layout make sense. Everything is built like it is meant to last, which matches how we treat equipment for clients.
If you have chronic pain, swelling, circulation issues, or you simply cannot tolerate a traditional sit/stand desk anymore, look at the 0b-XL. Florida MSP Services bought it because we needed a real workstation after a rattlesnake bite wrecked conventional sitting and standing. It delivered. Highly recommended.
