USE AI FOR DNS TROUBLESHOOTING!

You can significantly speed up diagnosing email and DNS problems by using AI tools with simple, targeted prompts that analyze your domain’s records and suggest concrete fixes.

Something we recently discovered is that you can use Grok – and likely most other AI tools as well – with a very simple but powerful prompt to help troubleshoot email and DNS issues. For example, you can ask:

“Can you check the DNS for DOMAIN.COM to make sure their mail records are correct?”

This kind of request can help identify whether basic mail-related DNS entries, such as MX records, are set up correctly. You can also be more specific and say:

“Can you check the DNS for DOMAIN.COM to make sure their SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records are correct and functioning properly.”

By using prompts like these, the AI can quickly analyze publicly available DNS information, highlight misconfigurations, and point out missing or malformed records. It often provides clear explanations of what each record does, why it matters for email deliverability and security, and how to adjust the entries to meet best practices. In many cases, it will even suggest the exact changes or formatted records you should use.

This approach makes it much faster to pinpoint issues that might otherwise require manual DNS lookups and cross-referencing documentation. It is especially useful for diagnosing problems like emails going to spam, failing authentication checks, or being rejected by certain providers. I am not sure if this is something that interests you, but I have found it remarkably helpful for quickly identifying issues and getting practical, step-by-step suggestions for fixes.
